On one of my earlier adventures

Early North Star Airliner

Where in the World is Gillian

I began traveling at the very tender age of 6 months, when my mother and slightly older brother took me to Scotland to meet my grandparents, aunties and uncles, cousins and friends.

We flew on the new airliner – the North Star – from Halifax, Nova Scotia, to Gander, New Foundland where we slept the night before continuing on the following morning to Prestwick, Scotland. We were also required to take a fuel stop in Iceland or Labrador enroute, and this allowed Maggie to buy a sandwich and a drink for the long journey ahead. The journey took about 23 hours. That was in the 1950’s. It takes about 7 hours now.

Anyway – that was the start of it all. Here is a collection of my recent travels. I have been traveling to new places ( for me) since before digital cameras, so I will expand from recent to past journeys as time permits me to scan photos.

As I add to this collection, I relive those wonderful journeys and the friends I made along the way.

Welcome to my travel site, and I hope you enjoy these thoughts and memories as much as I have putting this together.

The Asia page has the most information, I am woking on the other pages, so please check back later, for updates.
